How to Submit

To be brief, just tell your coming out story – just write it down. It can be any one that you want to tell, the one that you most identify with. I am not looking for anything in particular from the story itself – whether it is funny, sad, hopeful or tragic. I am simply looking for your genuine experiences. The story can be between you and your best friend, or your parents, or even with a first love. Each of our experiences is unique so don’t be afraid to tell your story because you think it is too unique or too plain. Everyone’s voice should be heard.

I am looking for a brief reflection of your experience; a single memorable experience with as much sensory detail as you can emphasize (what did you say, what did he/she/they say, what was your/their body language like, what were the facial expressions, what was the time of day, where were you, etc…). Feel free to include whatever background information you like.

As far as length is concerned, that is up to you, but I am looking for stories between 700 and 1200 words (about a page/page1/2 single spaced). I am more interested in the depth of the experience rather than the length. Just write what you feel is appropriate and send it in, we can work from there.

A few last things :

I would prefer to use people’s real name, but I can also post the story under a pseudonym if I am requested to do so. I would also like to have a photo to post with the story, which can be attached and sent through email. Lastly, if you are uncertain if the file format which you have used can be open on my computer save the story in a rich-text format (.rtf).
